Some Facts About Anxiety...And How Yoga Can Help.

According to the Oxford Dictionary anxiety is defined as "a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome." We all experience anxiety now and again. A certain amount of anxiety is actually healthy! It shows us that we are invested and we care. It can also warn us of impending danger.

A little bit of anxiety can be a good thing, but a lot of anxiety or a prolonged period of anxiety is most definitely not! A nervous disorder is defined as being "characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness and apprehension." It is often accompanied by "compulsive behaviour and panic attacks."

According to Worldindata.org, an estimated 4% of us experience anxiety beyond being nervous for that next presentation at work. That's almost 284 million people! And the Covid pandemic hasn't helped matters.

There is hope though! Studies show that yoga and meditation can help increase positive feelings. That means that yoga & meditation can be an effective treatment for anxiety on its own or in combination with other therapies. This is where yoga therapy can help. Get one on one, highly tailored yoga practice for your specific needs.
